Finally! I'll Have My Cake

We had to postpone Maggie's b-day celebration because of a run-in with pink eye the day before the party was to happen! :( However - this past weekend we were able to celebrate with the most important part: cake eating pictures! The Elrod's came over for dinner and we sang Happy Birthday, and then ate cake! Maggie loved it! Both girls were bouncing off the walls for hours after, and it was worth it! Here are a few photos of the evening.

Look how cute they are!

Doesn't look too messy... yet!

Oh yeah! Tastes much better when it gets all over the place.

She did a good job! We took it away after this - we were worried about a sugar overdose!

Traveling for Thanksgiving

We drove many-a-mile over Thanksgiving, and it was worth it! We stayed in Martinez for most of the time, but also took a side trip up to Ashland, OR to celebrate Great-Grandma Korn's 88th birthday! It was a fun week with family, and after the trauma of the drive up, and the panic of not knowing whether or not we'd leave him, PJ settled in to bliss - sleeping on Mimi's bed every night! Spoiled!

Here are some of the pictures from the week, and hopefully more frequent blogs in the new year! ;)

The Baby Whisperer, aka Judy

Mimi is the best at teaching Maggie new things!

Stopped on the pass - we're still having fun!

Awwee, Mom! You're so weird!

I love this picture! Ready for the open road, this one!

Great Uncle Art. He's not as scary when he has food... ;)

Can you see the piece of cheese in the foreground of the photo? That's her focus. ha!

The turkey that we didn't get to eat... Will Kerry & Amy ever forgive me? ;) Looks, good Dad!

One Beautiful Year

This has been the most beautiful year of my life. One year ago today, we welcomed our Maggie into the world! She is so amazing - it's so hard to put all these feelings into words, but I think I should direct them to the source...

Dear Maggie,

One year ago today, you brought a joy into our lives that we never knew existed. You warmed our hearts, opened our eyes, and tucked yourself into our little family so perfectly. We've watched you grow month by month, and have marveled at how strong and determined you are. We watch you ponder the world around you, watch you reach out for those that we love so much, and see you learn new things with ease. We marvel at you daily - delight in your giggles, remark on your goings on, and praise your best friend PJ for being by your side every step of the way. You are such a ham - always trying to get us to laugh at you!  And you are an observer - watching and thinking, learning, and deciding what to do next. Your laugh is so amazing - full of pure joy and free of any worry or fear.

Thank you for a year of unforgettable memories! Thank you for reminding your Dad and I every day how lucky we are to have each other. We are so proud of you're first year - we did it! We are also so thankful for all of the family and friends who have supported you from the first breath you took. Our love will find you wherever you go, Maggie.

Love forever and always,
Mommy & Daddy

And she's off!
We can't wait to for the adventures of year 2!

Halloween Happenings

We had a fun filled Halloween weekend! Maggie had a party at daycare to kick off the weekend! She was so cute, and see below for a picture from her friend Marin. After work, we took Maggie down to Little Italy to meet up with the Elrod's and to hit the "Trick-or-Treat on India Street" event. It was fun, and we saw some great costumes! Rhea was "Princess Ariel", and her little BF Beckett was a bunny rabbit. They were so cute, and got pretty hopped up on sugar! I didn't know kids could move that fast! ;) The best costume of the night was a little cutie dressed up as a troll doll. Her hair was hair sprayed up high, and spray painted blue! It was so cute!

On Saturday we carved a pumpkin (which I forgot to take a picture of!) who has two teeth just like Maggie. Sunday brought football with a bunch of rowdy Seahawk fans, and one very boastful Raider fan. ;)
Then we rushed down to meet Laura and Cutter for some moretrick-or-treating in Coronado! It was a great weekend, and Maggie dressed up 3 times!

This is the new face Maggie makes when she doesn't like what she's doing anymore...

Don't worry - we stopped it before it got gross! But had to include this photo. So funny!

Our little Cheetah/Leopard/Kitty?? Cute none-the-less!

Fun in the Sun!

We had a super fun trip to Palm Springs a few weekends back. We met up with Maggie's Grandma and Poppa Korn, Auntie Tracey, Uncle Justin, Auntie Erin and Uncle Tory, GG (Great Grandma Vaughan), and most importantly... Cousin Cam! We had a lot of fun swimming and playing with blocks, and trying new foods! Maggie did a great job of sleeping in a new place, swimming (she dunked her head!) and getting to spend time with family. Here are a few pictures from the weekend, although I have to admit... I was doing some relaxing, so was a little bit lazy on the picture taking! ;)

Auntie Kerry joined us too! She got in some good pool time

Legos are pretty awesome!

I love you Grandma!

Wow, Cammy, you're so tall!

Hangin' with Poppa.

Dad, you're so funny!

One for the Korn Christmas card?? :)

Visiting Mimmi & Great Grammy & Grampy

On Sunday, Maggie and I took a drive up to Orange County to visit with my Mom (Mimmi) and to see my grandparents (Great Grammy & Grampy). We also got to see Amy, my cousins Jessica & Mathew, my Aunt Lynda, and Uncles Brad & Randy.

Maggie was having so much fun with Mimmi - she loved to take the glasses of her face. She would laugh so hard that she had to rest her forehead on Mimmi's forehead. It was so cute. We (Rob and I - although Rob wasn't there, so he missed out on this lovely lesson) learned a BIG lesson. Do not feed your daughter vegetarian refried beans for dinner on Saturday night, and then prunes for breakfast on Sunday morning. It was gross people. One bath, 4 diapers, and two outfits later... Should explain why she's in a diaper only below. :o)

Off to Palm Springs this weekend to hang with the whole Korn family! We can't wait to see Cameron, Maggie's cousin! And of course, everyone else!

They have arrived.

Maggie has TEETH! She decided to do a two-for-one special on her first tooth experience. These both popped out at the same time! (Friday October 1st, PJ's birthday!) Luckily for me, I was the one home and feeding her when the excitement began... Poor girl! It was a doosie, but only lasted about an hour. Then the Tylenol (we love you Tylenol!) kicked in and she fell asleep. Now, all the Worry Warts out there can relax. (Ah-hem, Mom!) Maggie has teeth, and will be sure to get more!

The Famous Two-fers!

Still Happy!

We've Got Video!

Probably the least exciting thing we could video - but we're experimenting! Here's a little clip of Maggie playing with Daddy... and with her food! xoxo

PS: This video was shot yesterday, Maggie's 10 month birthday!! (Whaaaat? She's going to be ONE YEAR OLD in only two months!!)

She Loves Him!

Last night as Maggie sat on her blanket on the floor, Rob, PJ, and I sat around her encouraging her to crawl. (Okay, I guess PJ wasn't really encouraging her... he was taking advantage of the fact that I was sitting on the ground, and was laying pretty much on top of my legs! :o)

Maggie scoots. You can't even tell she's doing it! She'll just all of the sudden be on the other side of the blanket. She's thinking about crawling, but you can tell she just isn't convinced that it is worth the possibility of falling. She's a thinker, this one!

Yesterday, she scooted right up to PJ. She sat in front of him, babbled something that only she and he can understand, and then bent down and gave him a kiss right on the bridge of his nose! IT WAS THE CUTEST THING WE'VE EVER SEEN. PJ looked at her with all this love, and she looked at us with a huge smile, and then went to babbling.

This is so much fun! I wish I had captured the moment with a photo, but didn't have time! Just wanted to share this story with you all - she is such a love bug!

Another Weekend of Fun!

We were lucky to have my Dad and Amy in town for the weekend and also to get 4 tickets to the Padres game! It was a short game, but we had fun! Maggie did a lot of people watching and the Padres won!

Here is a super cute picture of Maggie at the game, courtesy of Michelle P., and a picture of Maggie and her Poppy from after the game. It was a great weekend, wrapped up with a BBQ and a visit from Britt!

This next weekend brings a visit from Grandma & Poppa Korn. We can't wait to see them! Stay tuned for pictures from our adventures with them!

The Right Side of the Bed

Maggie's sleep habits have been changing a little bit lately. We think she might be having a growth spurt, or she's teething, or _________ (insert your guess in the comments below!). No matter the reason, she's been spending a bit more time in bed with us lately. She's a bit of a bed hog, but I think Rob would agree - it's nice to have her so close sometimes. I think I'm pretty lucky to wake up to these snugglebugs!

Sorry for the big break between posts - work is very busy for me right now! Glad we had a 3 day weekend - it means a shorter week, and hopefully some time to upload some new photos.

Oh - I wanted to put this photo in too, since it's one of my all time favorites so far! It was also taken the day before her 9 month birthday at Maggie's first San Diego Padres game!

More soon!
